7 Things I Called in Queen Charlotte (and 3 I Totally Missed!)

*Spoilers for Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story

Hit: New Baby is a Basset

Since we know from the Queen Charlotte timeline that Anthony is on his honeymoon, the new baby Violet is holding has to be Daphne and Simon’s second. Whether this is Belinda or someone else, we don’t know, but we are sure now they’re a Hastings.

Miss: Lady Danbury’s Romantic Relationships

While Agatha and Adolphus are definitely romantically tied, I thought he was going to be her big love. And who knows, maybe he’ll still come back for Season 3? But as for what happened in this series, her affair with Lord Ledger came out of nowhere for me. Definitely missed that idea. As for her and Lord Ledger, I did not see coming in the slightest. I was shocked to my socks when their friendship turned romantic, and I am still a little skeeved by it. I’ll definitely be talking more about this one, but suffice it to say it was not something I predicted at all.

Hit: Violet “In Bloom”

I have been pulling for a love story for Violet for maybe years now. I am so excited that she has declared herself back in bloom and possibly looking for someone to “garden” her. I am hopeful that we will see this play out more in Bridgerton Season 3.

Hit: Young Violet

I had predicted we would get a young Violet totally separate from her love life. There was definitely some talk that Edmund could be included, but I had always doubted that, initially because I thought they didn’t meet until after her debut. But I was hoping that the young version of our matriarch would have other goals. I did expect her to have more to do than she actually did in the season, but I was glad she was so loving and stood up for inclusivity in the Ton.

Miss: How Racism Ends

I thought the integration of the Ton was going to be a lot more about the love of Charlotte and George. However, it was more a political maneuver by Augusta, Charlotte, and Agatha. I actually like this a lot better as it puts the agency in the hands of the ladies and particularly the ladies of color.

Hit: Brimsely and Reynolds

Finally an LGBTQ that gets some worthy screentime and romantic moments. They even kick off the sex scenes in the series, which was fabulous, as well as have lovely scenes like the bathtub, the dancing…and deal with complex emotions and struggles. Gold stars.

Miss: Table Sex

I absolutely thought that the glimpse we caught in the trailer of George and Charlotte going at it on their dinner table in front of their servants was a dream sequence. But these two are way more desperate for each other — or way kinkier — than I ever would have guessed. So good for them.

Hit: Agatha and Her Husband

While this isn’t exactly one for the record books, I did definitely expect their relationship to be one that has nothing to do with love, and that she would have to find the love of her life elsewhere.

Hit: #hotnerd George

Knowing the history of who King George III actually was, and seeing a few of the early production stills, I was ready for our nerdy king. That hashtag has been my friend for months now, and they leaned into it maybe even more than I expected. It was grand.

Hit: Music

With “I Will Always Love You,” I actually got one right. I am pretty stoked that my prediction came true, and with such a good song too. With Beyonce, I called another artist that would show up even if I got the song wrong. And overall, I did call the theme of strong, black Queens making the music. So I’m going to give myself this one.
